One thing I immensely liked about YH Photos was selecting a special picture for my "Album Cover". I don't add photos on a regular basis...but my little album made me happy. You could make multiple albums & select just the one you wanted to share & switch easily between them. Important pictures stayed important & as far as I know - there was no limit to the number of photos in a given album so displaying as many as you wanted right on 360 was a breeze.
Alas, I've begun my (rather painful) defection to Flickr. Accounts have to be approved & after about a week and a half, some minimum wage employee has determined I'm not a risk to society in general (a lot they know!) & has approved my account. The site looks fine as far as organizing photos for viewing on their site...but not for integration into 360 in my personal opinion. And since my personal opinion is what this blog is about, I can say for my limited use, I'm not so impressed just yet.
I uploaded 7 photos. I managed to get the maximum 6 to show on my 360. But wait! One of the ones I would prefer to show wasn't. So I marked private 3 I could live without. Uh...how come they still show on my 360? After 20 minutes of struggling (at nearly 2am) I decided to delete them. Miraculous! They still showed up on 360! After a few choice words & several screen refreshes they were gone - replaced not by the photos I wanted, but by a lovely little note the photos no longer existed! Click on it & you saw instructions to ask me about the missing picture. Hmmm....If I delete a picture do they really think I want anyone asking me where it went?! Isn't that the point of delete? I think it means to make it go away - not to encourage everyone inquire about it.
Flickr lets you make sets (perhaps an album in disguise?) So I did. Darn shame you can't just share a single set on YH360 no matter how hard you try. It would appear the latest photos uploaded are the ones to magically appear. Gone are the days of having the pictures I want, in the order I want, on a page that's supposed to be mine.
Ah well, I'm just venting here. I've really no choice in the matter. Come fall, it appears the only "standard" photo sharing option on YH will be Photostream In order to keep the photos I want on my 360 I may well simply upload nothing more to Flickr. www.slide.com has great slide shows (and guestbooks). Simply upload the pictures to this (free) site and create the HTML to paste right into your blog. Someone has to actually read the blog to see the pictures, but I guess that's OK. And since you've all seen the pictures I have already (...mental note....need to take a few new pix to share...) I'll take this opportunity to insert a guestbook instead.
your photo and put your location. I'm interested to see what I end up with here!
