Seasonal Sales (or Tightwad Shopping)

by patndoris on Jun.05, 2008,under Frugal

Many products go on sale at different times of year. Sometimes it’s just after a particular holiday, or maybe during a particular season. When you know you need to purchase something, but it's not an immediate need, take a look to see when the best time to purchase is. Keep a list of items you need and get great discounts by buying during the times items are on sale. Don’t forget that stocking up on something you know you will use is a good money saving strategy. Yes, you may spend a little money now, but if you wait until you’re in desperate need of it – you’ll likely pay more.

Follow up:

There are many places in a home to creatively store items. Sure, some food items will require freezer space. Or perhaps fresh foods (like fruits and veggies) can be canned or dehydrated for future use. But for non-perishable grocery items, or other products - think creatively! How about the space under your bed, closets, drawers, in the basement, attic, garage? Got a wee bit of extra space there? Some items (as long as heat/cold or moisture don’t matter) could even be stored in a backyard shed.

Don’t ignore the potential savings – but don’t buy for the sake of having something at a low cost if you won’t use it either.
