Much Ado About Google Chrome

Well, the blogging world certainly has been buzzing (er…blogging) about Google Chrome today. I must say, I’ve played a little more, installed the new Java 6 RC 10 (thanks to Eagle_Kiwi…and yes Yahoo games are working fine now) and read quite a bit today about the features, speed, concerns etc.
Follow up:
One of the most useful posts was a Tech Republic post on the 5 best features in Chrome. The task manager sure is interesting. As a side note, I left Chrome running while I went to lunch (making a mental note of memory usage) and when I returned it was exactly the same. No memory leaks here. Bravo!
Also noteworthy was this interesting Lifehacker post on which browser is the fastest. It’s not highly scientific but the results seem rather unbiased for a semi-well-controlled test environment. It basically goes to show that any of the major browser contenders can do well on one or more tests.
And finally - the big debate. Does Google want your information. The big concern of who has rights to what you post when you use Chrome hit the fan today. It seemed to be the big subject of debate. The TOS license language was apparently disturbing and unsettling to a great number of people. I’m not sure why, do they really think anything is totally safe when they post over the internet? Anyway…Google has stepped up and you can read more about the official response from Google, as well as an interesting commentary in Matt Cutts post.
To sum it up, Chrome is growing on me by the hour. I’m sure there will be more to follow on this topic of the week, but in keeping with the blogging frenzy of the day I felt it was actually a topic worthy of quick follow-up.
