Tags: spyware14 September 2008 I’m very concerned with the recent proliferation (perhaps equivalent to the summertime bunny population) of online HijackThis readers. I’ve seen them popping up more and more in blog posts as viable alternatives to a proper log reading. More and more on forums, I notice the abundance of people seeking help with their logs. Sadly, these forums are staffed primarily by trained volunteers - and there just aren’t enough of them to satisfy the rising demand. As viruses and malware continue to become more sophisticated and prevalent, I’m sure the demand is going continue this increasing trend. 19 August 2008 I like to imagine I’m on the cutting edge (…oh be quiet and let me dream will you?) So I was quite pleased when I got buzzed the other day at work and our V.P says "Hey - would you like to see a cool virus?" And of course my answer took less than a split second "Sure!" 14 August 2008 Agent 007, you have been assigned Mission Possible. Should you choose to accept it, your goal is to search out and destroy the truly nasty of the nastiest malware on your computer. This mission is easier than you think with Spybot Search & Destroy in your bag of tricks. 21 July 2008 No doubt, by now you’ve realized the importance of spyware and malware protection. If you haven’t (imagine a wagging finger) shame on you! Still, I’m going to persevere in my quest to make you spyware free (at least for a few minutes in time). I’m trying to move in a logical progression (as logical as I’m capable of that is). And no, the big S does not stand for Superman it stands for SuperAntiSpyware. 30 June 2008 Moving forward with my happy little campaign on cleaning up your machine (and keeping it clean) I will talk (and talk, and talk) about spyware. You have (ahem...no doubt) read my previous entry on what spyware is, so I will skip the intro and get to it. 25 June 2008 Edit: Somehow I kinda messed up my previous post…..well I kinda deleted it somehow messing with moving around LiveWriter files. Sorry for the inconvenience and all comments were lost I think, but reposting to get it back out there. 18 June 2008 This write up was done by my new friend George on Multiply. I was impressed with the simplicity and clarity he used to describe various types of spyware, malware etc., how it attacks, how it hides, what it does, how you know you've got it, and what you need to do. I'll go into more detail about preventing and cleaning but this is a wonderful overview. |
