Tags: webdesign15 February 2008 When Papa Bear didn't show a player embedded I just HAD to try it for myself. HTML geek that I am, I have a stash of secrets culled from countless hours of combing thru YH360 pages on the subject of HTML! 06 February 2008
OK...so when I set out to learn HTML I figured "I used to do programming...how hard can this be? I mean... REALLY..." (read with heavy sarcastic sigh) "...it's just "programming" for webpages right?" Yup! That's right! And HTML is just as picky as every other computer language I can no longer fluently type.

I finally changed to a new blog platform - complete with comments, tag cloud and search! Not sure, but I think comments need approval before they will show - but I won't know until someone leaves one. Since I felt compelled to make changes to my skin, this may still need a few tweaks. Let me know what you think and if you experience any problems.

One of the limitations of this blogging program is no ability for readers to leave comments. I spent several hours tonight scouring the net, looking at possible options.

I have several things planned for my site. In addition to the same types of regular page updates I've already been doing I plan on linking a few "sub pages" to the main ones.

I'd not even thought of embedding a blog prior to this entire web page learning experience. This promises to be an exciting (and probably challenging) task. This is a flash blog as opposed to some of the other more prevalent ones out there, so I'm anxious to see how it works. Unlike other blogs I use, this one does not support HTML (although I'm getting my fill of that playing with the rest of the site.) So other than images, links, text, and the wonderous often confusing workings of my mind, you won't find any spiffy effects in here.

I've spent the last 2 weeks working on truly learning HTML, a little CSS & just enough JavaScript to manipulate a couple things I needed to. Up until now, I'd cut & pasted code into my 360 for a few cool effects, but that was it. This has been quite an experience. And I thought learning to play Canasta was tough!

I really enjoy playing with HTML code in YH blogs. If for no other reason, it offers some visual distraction from the occasionally lackluster content of a particular entry (yah...like this one!) I’ve had trouble with this fixed border code ever since the first time I used it. It worked like a charm initially...before I decided to start perfecting it. But once I started chopping and destroying...I mean cutting and pasting...it’s been mucked up ever since. I’ve come to the conclusion it makes sense to try and actually understand at least a little of the code prior to altering or deleting parts of it. NOTE: I'm not even going to try and display the fixed border in here. First - the column would be reduced to virtually nothing except border, and second - I don't feel like going thru the effort of figuring out how to get it to work in b2evolution. My apologies in advance if this happens to bother anyone...but perhaps I'll do it on some other page on my site...just not here.
