b2evolution Upgrade Success!
Published on December 21st, 2008 @ 07:30 pm , using 536 words, 175 views
Well, I managed to upgrade to the most recent version of my blogging platform today. I will say, I didn’t do it the easy way that’s for sure. I took my time and did it a somewhat fool-proof way, which is not to suggest I’m a fool (no wise cracks) but just that I didn’t want to take a chance on breaking my blog again.

A Little Housecleaning
Published on December 21st, 2008 @ 04:03 pm , using 283 words, 38 views
I’m never satisfied with my website. I suppose I’ll never be. I did a little housecleaning to remove some items I don’t feel are necessary and/or are not being utilized. I’ve summarized these changes below. Sorry if I’ve take away something you happened to like, but change is a constant for my website.

If you’re like me, you think of the internet as more or less immortal. It’s this great invisible being (like the supercomputer Deep Thought in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy that churns on thinking for 7-1/2 million years) that exist forever, and it’s content will never be lost. Ah, but how far from the truth it is. Sure we have sites like Wayback Machine (which I rarely have luck with due to robots.txt files blocking the request) but what do you do when a site you depend on to be there is just suddenly POOF! Gulp! And double GULP! GONE?

There’s that initial repetition of a vowel sound again. But that’s definitely not the introduction to a new word game. Quite the contrary! I?m sleepily struggling to accurately describe Auditorium. It’s a game of skill (I do believe I should have paid more attention in physics in high school though) and it’s an amazing audio-visual treat (if you manage to play it correctly that is!) The simplicity and yet the complexity of this (based on particle math) puzzle game fascinates me. Even the now fourteen year old male offspring took a crack at it! (That’s amazing in and of itself considering he doesn’t like any game I think is worth playing.)

An Interesting Timewaster: Plug Into Now
Published on December 6th, 2008 @ 12:48 pm , using 547 words, 134 views
I seem to have a real talent for finding sites dedicated (or seemingly so) totally to wasting time. (I should know, I spend enough of my time just surfing around wasting time.) But you know what I mean, sites where one click leads to another…and another… By now you’ve most undoubtedly guessed it! I’ve stumbled upon a new one called…(funny how I insert the link here that makes you open the actual post to find out isn’t it?)…

Socialize with Google Friend Connect on patndoris.com
Published on December 4th, 2008 @ 08:32 pm , using 645 words, 120 views
So, awhile ago I see this write up on an invitation only new site widget, social thingy, from Google. It’s called Google Friend Connect. So I think on it for a few weeks and finally decide what the heck! I’ll fill in the info to try and get an invite. I had to go so far as to say just why I thought it would be a good addition to my site (among other things). I clicked submit and I waited.

Is there one among us who has not asked the question? It is universal really, knowing no bounds. Age, sex, location, processor speed, OS, connection type - they are are irrelevant. It is the age old question (OK, OK, maybe not age old - but decade old at least). This morning, thanks to Quick Online Tips it has finally been answered. The oracle has spoken. Oh! What? What IS the question you ask?

Troubleshooting Yahoo Game Links
Published on June 3rd, 2008 @ 06:14 pm , using 474 words, 556 views
At least once a week, someone I know has trouble following a link to Yahoo Games. Invariably, instead of reaching the annoying bot-blocking account verification page (where your patience is tested typing in the random letters and numbers until you manage to get it right) the page comes up blank. The fix is simple and works nearly 100% of the time.
