Once upon a time, in a land far away (HTMLand) There lived an intelligent, charming, beautiful, powerful…darn got carried away there…sorceress. She’d studied the powerful magic of HTML for many weeks (I know years would sound better, but it just isn’t so) and after many zen-like hours, eyes glued to her laptop, surfing from site to site by the light of her 15” display, discovered a mystical secret of this not-so-ancient code. She vowed to keep this secret, revealing it only when it suited her purposes best.

Hindsight is Hysterical

This is a long blog - but easy & quick reading. Settle in & enjoy a good laugh! There's a Java based streaming webcam I sometimes watch. On the Vista laptop the site connects & all the Java Applets function, but I'd had one pesky problem where the initial image of the cam loaded & then remained static. Streaming? Does IE7 & Vista know this means an updating picture? Hmm...IE7, Java, or Vista problem? Googled & Googled & after countless frustrating hours found only a couple people with the same problem...no posted resolutions. How nice! Why don't people post problem resolutions for the rest of us?

I don’t usually blog about my life, but I’ve not been online much lately so I wanted to post a quick update. Last year I went on a mission to redo the interior of my house (almost completely by myself no less!) I got it done, with the exception of my computer/craft room. This poor small room was my last holdout for junk I didn’t want to deal with. Since the laptop, I’ve spent very little time in there & it’s been largely overtaken by my 12-1/2 year old male offspring.
My Vista Experience

After months of struggling with disappearing sound on my laptop I broke down and got a new one. I prayed fervently it would come with XP since I knew exactly what I was doing with the comfortingly familiar O/S. I could be efficient on it. The UPS driver came to to my door, I signed my name on the little techno geeky electronic manifest thingy, gleefully ran the box upstairs and tore into it. As I removed the laptop from the carton I saw it....

IM (with or without voice) is my primary communication with friends. I’m almost never without one messenger program running - often two or three. I’m finding the widely accepted shortcuts of the chat world spill over into my everyday life. Sometimes I’m not even sure in what time zone I’m operating!
